The Deuce Weekly, 9/18 - 9/24/01

Vol III, Iss III
9/18-9/24

And I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free... and I won't forget the men who died and gave that right to me, and I proudly stand up (CYMBAL CRASH!!) next to you and defend her still today... cause their ain't no doubt I love this land, God Bless the USA...

This is a genuine tribute, not to sound cheesy... Only in America can four guys be accepted while living in a place they call The Deuce, while hanging out with guys called Wookiee. I love this country. The Deuce salutes America and all of the hard working NYPD and NYFD citizens in New York City.

Coming Up:
*Thursday, Sept 20th... TNBS Praise and Worship

This week is praise and worship night, led by all of our guitar players in Common Ground... starts at 7pm.

*Thursday, Sept 20th... Friends Season Finale

This fall we head to Dalton, GA, for a conference starring Mercyme and speaker Voddie Boachum. He was the big black speaker guy at Passion One Day, for those of you who went. Good times, good times. The trip is around $45. Call Sybil at 991-5282 for details.

*Friday, October 19th... The Phantom Deuce Party
We have a genuine Star Wars night at The Deuce... starting at 7, you'll be treated to The Deuce's own Pez Wars, followed by the classic Hardware Wars, both on VHS. George Lucas in Love comes next, then Thumb Wars-The Phantom Cuticle, both on DVD. At 7:30, we bust out Star Wars: The Phantom Menace on DVD... and for those who are hardcore, 11:30pm starts Spaceballs, plus all the extras on DVD. And at 1:30am... Star Wars Trivial Pursuit. Is the force with you?

*Saturday, October 20th... DeuceNight, the Semi-Formal
I have talked to a young lady who teaches ballroom dance... so its beginning to come together. Here's the deal: Girls get on their nice dresses, guys get their suits and ties on, and we are headed to a nice dinner. Then, we go over to a TBD location, where we will have our very own private lessons in waltzing, swinging, the fox trot and a few other steps, plus a chance to dance on our own! If I Could Be Serious for a Minute...
I won't say very much on the obvious topic... just remember to be in prayer for everything and everyone... Bush, Powell, the administration, the volunteers in NYC doing the clean up, the survivors that may still be there, the families of those who didn't survive... and even those in Afghanistan who could've cared less about America until last week, when a government they were completely impartial to possibly bombed the most powerful country in the world. Lots of prayer needed.

The Spotlight Haiku
Here comes the part of the show when we salute on of our family in The Deuce. This week, we shine on Susan Cooper!
Susan Cooper, she's
super dooper! Short and sweet,
We love our Scooper!
